He has been a broken man following his horrific acid attack earlier this year.

But Emmerdale's Ross Barton may be about to take matters into his own hands, after his attacker Simon McManus was found not guilty of the crime due to a lack of evidence.

Fans of the ITV soap were left stunned by the verdict that aired on Tuesday night's show, with a haunting final scene hinting that Ross may kill Simon in a bid to get justice for what he has done.

In dramatic scenes, Simon's trial got off to a bad start for defendant Ross (Michael Parr) and his family, when a key witness in the case was revealed to have died of a drug overdose.

Despite an emotional statement pleading with the judge for justice to be served, Ross was stunned when the jury returned to give a not guilty verdict due to a lack of evidence.
