'So frustrating and sad': Demi Lovato denounces 'diet culture in our society' and calls fans 'beautiful no matter what anyone says'

She has battled an eating disorder herself.

And Demi Lovato fired up her Twitter account on Monday when she spoke out about women who try too hard to stay slender.

'It’s so frustrating and sad how strong the #dietculture in our society is,' said the former Disney star. The 25-year-old continued: 'It’s constantly telling us we’re not thin enough no matter what. You are beautiful no matter what anyone says.'

In the documentary Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated, which bowed last October, Demi revealed that 'one thing that I haven't fully conquered is my eating disorder.'

During a confessional in the YouTube film, she explained: 'The less I have to think about food, the easier it is for me to go about having a normal life, and I don't wanna let anybody down, so when I do have moments that I slip up, I feel very ashamed.'

Demi spent six years dating Wilmer Valderrama, who is 13 years her senior, and suffered a relapse into 'binging and purging' last year while 'missing' him.
