At least 17 people have died at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL, after a gunmen opened fire at the end of the school day. Officials have the suspect, 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz, in custody.

Victims - Students - Teachers - Sheriff - People

The victims include both students and teachers, the sheriff said. Twelve people were killed inside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., three outside the school and two people died at the hospital.

The school, which has an enrollment of 3,200 students, is northwest of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Situation - Broward - County - Public - Schools

“It is a horrific situation,” said Broward County Public Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie. “It is a horrible day for us.”

The sheriff said some people were in surgery Wednesday night.
