'Scream' Creator Kevin Williamson Signs First-Look Deal With Miramax

Kevin Williamson, the creator of Scream, Dawson’s Creek and The Vampire Diaries, has signed a first-look deal with Miramax, the production banner that is being rebuilt by CEO Bill Block, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Under the deal, Williamson will develop what the company calls "high-level motion picture genre content." More precise details were not revealed.

Williamson created the Scream horror franchise and wrote the 1990s horror movies I Know What You Did Last Summer and The Faculty. More recently he developed the long-running vampire sudser, The Vampire Diaries and created gritty shows such as The Following and Stalker.
