A 14-year-old paperboy has undergone plastic surgery to his leg after suffering horrific injuries when he was attacked by a large dog.
Owen McAvoy was on his first paper round when he approached a dog walker to ask her for directions in Marton-in-Cleveland, Middlesbrough.

But before he could even finish his sentence, the huge brown and grey-coloured canine she was walking lunged at him and pulled him from his bike.
The dog's teeth sunk into Owen's calf muscle through his school trousers before it started to shake at his limb. The ten-second attack left the terrified boy with large puncture wounds to his leg.
Couple - House - Screams - Aid - Owen
A couple from a nearby house heard his screams before running to his aid, and Owen said his mother and stepfather were in a local street to keep an eye on him with it being his first trip delivering.
While the couple took Owen into their home, another woman drove to find his parents. Within minutes, Owen's mother and stepfather were with him, finding him covered in blood and as 'white as a sheet'.

His stepfather David, 38, a photographer, and mother Valda, 37, took Owen to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough where he underwent plastic surgery.
Medics had to put Owen to sleep to carry out the operation, as well as inserting drains into the torn tissue, in case of infection.

He was released from hospital that night but was absent from The King's Academy school in Coulby Newham, where he is a pupil, for several days.
