'I was completely destroyed': Sir Bruce Forsyth's wife Lady Wilnelia gives her first interview since the star's passing as she discusses losing the showbiz icon

Sir Bruce Forsyth's wife, Lady Wilnelia has spoken about her late husband in her first interview since his death, during an interview on This Morning on Monday.

The 60-year-old spoke of her joy at marrying the iconic entertainer, who sadly passed away in August, aged 89 at his home, while surrounded by his family.

Wilnelia - 'I - Years - Marriage

Wilnelia said: 'I was so lucky to be married to him for 34 years. It was a very happy marriage.'

Wilnelia said she is thankful that she was able to make some special memories with Bruce before he passed away.

'He - Strictly - Show - Christmas - Show

She said: 'He retired from Strictly, and he didn’t manage to do the last show; the Christmas show. He was planning to do some travelling and continuing and being in showbiz somehow. He wanted to be with his family.

'He was like that until the last year. He was still doing exercise at home. I was so lucky to have his daughters, they've been my angels, my strength and my son.

'They stayed. They entertained him, it was wonderful.'

Bruce was in showbusiness for 75 years - and discussing his fall, which was seen as the beginning of his major health problems, Lady Wilnelia said:

Beginning - Complications - Operation - Hope - Infection

'That was the beginning. There was a few other complications, there was the operation. But, we always had the hope that he was going to recuperate, until he had that chest infection.

'We were able to be there and the last week and all the girls came to the house and stayed, we watched movies. It was a special time. We were lucky to say our goodbyes.'
