He picked up his first ever Golden Globe for best actor in Beverly Hills on Sunday.

Now Gary Oldman is shooting for his first Oscar for his role as WWII British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour.

And the 59-year-old couldn't have looked happier as he posed with director Joe Wright at a special Focus Features reception for the drama in Los Angeles on Tuesday evening.

It was hosted by Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley and NBCUniversal vice-chairman Ron Meyer with producers Douglas Urbanski and Lisa Bruce also enjoying the fun.

Movie - Hollywood - Premiere - London - December

The movie didn't have a splashy Hollywood premiere, choosing to celebrate in London on December 11 after opening at the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado on September 1.

It also screened soon after at the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada, followed by a limited U.S. release on November 22 and a general release a month later.
