Vote fraud commission disbanded, White House asks Homeland Security to take the lead on the issue

There are few issues on which the left’s consensus position is more bizarre, which is really saying something. Voter fraud is absolutely not happening, anywhere, and any attempt to learn anything beyond that supposition is racist. That made President Trump’s establishment of the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity quite a flashpoint for the left and their media megaphones, who couldn’t denounce the commission vociferously enough. And needless to say, no state run by Democrats was going to assist the commission by providing it with any data whatsoever.

But the commission apparently did come to some conclusions, however hampered it may have been by those fighting its efforts on just about every front.

Step - Which - Agency - Commission - Findings

The next step is weird, though. Which federal agency do you suppose is going to be asked to follow up on the commission’s findings. Granted, there’s not a single, obvious answer. But if you wouldn’t have guessed the Department of Homeland Security, we’re right there with you.

And yet:

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders didn’t have a decisive answer Thursday on whether the president favored a national voter ID system.

“We are still going to continue to review the best way forward,” Sanders said in a response to a question from The Daily Signal during the press briefing.

Election - Commission - Existence - Findings - Commission

“Just because the election commission is no longer in existence, we are going to send the preliminary findings from the commission to the Department of Homeland Security and make determinations on the best way forward,” she said.

Asked why the Department of Homeland Security instead of the Justice Department, which traditionally investigates voting irregularities, is taking up the matter, Sanders told The Daily Signal: “That was the agency that was best determined by the administration, and we are moving forward and letting them take over the process.”
