After MNF Ratings Come in…NFL Owners Now Consider Making Historic Move

It’s amazing how insulting the majority of Americans puts a dent in your bottom line.

The ratings from “Monday Night Football” have now come in, and one look at them sent NFL decision makers scrambling to backpedal from the national anthem controversy.

Deadline - Vikings-vs-Bears - Game - Low - Television

According to Deadline, the Vikings-vs-Bears game was an all-season low in television ratings. That was even with a much-hyped “Star Wars” movie trailer being shown at halftime, which no doubt boosted the already dismal numbers.

“Snaring a 7.0 in metered market results, last night’s MNF was down double digits from last week’s Kansas Chiefs’ 29-20 victory over the Washington Redskins,” Deadline reported. “That comes a day after Sunday Night Football also hit a season low with its ratings down too.”

NFL - Players - Flag - Anthem - Executives

While many NFL players continue to insult the American flag by refusing to stand during the national anthem, executives in the league are apparently starting to panic.

CNBC reported on Tuesday that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell — who defended the protests until it hit his pocketbook — is planning a meeting to change the rules and specifically require players to stand.
