Attorney General Jeff Sessions has never been popular among the liberal crowd, but one of his latest efforts is really going to get them screaming.
Sessions announced this week that the Department of Justice has reversed an Obama administration policy that defined transgender employees as eligible for protection under employment sex-discrimination laws.
Title - VII - Civil - Rights - Act
Title VII of the Civil Rights Act probits any employer from discriminating against an employee based on race, color, religion, sex, and national origin.
The policy reversal, announced Wednesday, redefined what constitutes employment discrimination based on gender, referred to as “sex” under Title VII. The main argument was whether the protection covers issues of gender-identity and extends to those who have identity issues regarding the “sex” they are born with and the “sex” they wish they were.
Session - Memo - DOJ - Prohibition - Sex
Session’s memo to the DOJ stated that the prohibition on sex discrimination, “encompasses discrimination between men and women but does not encompass discrimination based on gender identity, per se, including transgender status.”
As far as the Sessions is concerned, one cannot claim they have been discriminated against based on their sex if they are transgendered.

And a Justice Department spokesman explained that before the Obama administration, that was understood to be the law of the land.
“The Department of Justice cannot expand the law beyond what Congress has provided,” DOJ spokesman Devin O’Malley said, according to CBS News.
