This parade of flamingos is following along after their leader to a place were they could weather out the storm safely. A few flamingo facts: flamingos in captivity are quite expensive to feed because the shrimp that turns their feathers pink are only found in small quantities in flamingo habitats. A more common shrimp is used and treated with an enzyme that turns their feathers pink. Also, flamingos are social birds, they live in colonies of thousands, which helps to avoid predators enabling them to maximize food intake, and is safer for nesting.
