Spotify and Hulu have teamed up to offer a new bundle deal that includes Spotify’s premium ad-free tier and Hulu’s tier with limited commercials.
The bundle is available for $4.99 per month to US undergraduate students at an accredited college or university. The bundle represents a $13 discount, and the two companies plan to split the subscription fee, according to Bloomberg.

The new bundle deal could indicate a future of subscription services partnering with each other to have a broader appeal. More companies in different market segments will likely fill the gaps in their offerings by merging together or selling through each other’s respective distribution channels to take a larger piece of the available market share, Fosina Marketing Group CEO Jim Fosina told BI Intelligence.
The partnership reflects the increasingly competitive on-demand video and music streaming service market.
