Former National Security Council official to join House Intelligence Committee

Derek Harvey, a former National Security Council official, who was booted from his position in July, is scheduled to join the staff of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

Harvey previously was the NSC's senior director for the Middle East, but was removed by national security adviser H.R. McMaster. During his time with the NSC, he was known for having a "hawkish" outlook concerning Iran and was also viewed as a friend of former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, the Atlantic reports.
