A drunk man held up thousands of New York City commuters on Thursday by staggering along and lying down on the subway tracks.
The unidentified man brought trains to a sudden halt shortly before 8am when an uptown 3 train driver spotted him lying on the tracks in front of him around 200metres from Christopher Street station in Greenwich Village.
Driver - Brakes - Train - Nothing - Urgency
The driver slammed the brakes and was able to stop the train before hitting him but it did nothing to instill urgency in the man who slowly got to his feet and started stumbling around.
For half an hour, all trains running from 34 St-Penn Station to Christopher St were halted after engineers turned off power on the tracks to stop the man from hurting himself.
