Turbo boost! David Hasselhoff confirms classic 80s show Knight Rider may return to television

More than 30 years after its release, crime fighting show Knight Rider is set to return to television.

David Hasselhoff, 65, confirmed to TMZ in a video interview that Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn is working on securing the rights to bring back the cult classic show.

'We're talking about doing a full blown TV series and we're working on the rights right now,' Hasselhoff said.

'It really came out of my relationship with James [Gunn] and the fact that he watched the show when he was eight years old, which is crazy,' he added.

During its four-year run on NBC, Hasselhoff portrayed Michael Knight, a crime fighting agent in public justice organization, the Foundation for Law and Government (FLAG).

Knight uses high tech crime-fighting equipment throughout the show, but primarily entrusts his customized 1982 Pontiac Trans-Am sports model sidekick named KITT.
