America’s Got Talent Season 12, Episode 8 airs at 8 p.m. Tuesday July 18, 2017, with judges Mel B., Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Simon Cowell overseeing the first round of judge cuts — that difficult time when only one out of three contestants make it through to the next round. Guest judges are coming on board, and they have also been revealed, according to a listing in TV Guide. Chris Hardwick, the stand-up comedian and actor, is first up, followed DJ Khaled and Laverne Cox.

One of the acts who will appear Tuesday is magician Eric Jones, who, quite literally, smashed the judges expectations in this trick. The question remains — is it good enough for him to avoid being cut? Here’s a sneak peek:

Show - Simon - Ways - Evening - Act

What a show. Simon was back to his evil ways, crushing the evening’s first act and calling it “horrible.” (more below). Then after viewing a few more acts, he remarked, “This is the weirdest day I’ve ever had in my life.” But the day would get better — and so sad. A 13-year-old girl dealing with a terrible pain of divorce took the stage, then AGT ended the show on a somber note when it aired the audition of Brandon Rogers. The doctor with an amazing voice died in a single-car accident just weeks before his audition was scheduled to air. AGT showed the segment at the request of the family, and while it was the last act, here it is, first. Given everything that happened, his version of Ribbon in the Sky, the Stevie Wonder classic, has even more meaning. And then AGT ended the broadcast with him calling his mom and dad while “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye To Yesterday” played in the background.
