Svelte Claire Richards admits Steps split was 'traumatic' as she joins chic bandmates Faye Tozer and Lisa Scott-Lee after announcing reunion tour

Fans were devastated when Steps disbanded in 2001.

And Claire Richards has revealed the split was equally as tough for the five-piece, as she branded the moment 'traumatic'.

Songstress - Admission - Thursday - Episode - BBC

The songstress, 39, made the admission on Thursday's episode of BBC Breakfast where she was joined by bandmates Faye Tozer, Lisa Scott-Lee, Lee Latchford-Evans and Ian 'H' Watkins.

'When we split it was all a bit traumatic,' the mother-of-two admitted.

Faye - Lot - Bands - Work

'Fractious!' Faye interjected, adding: 'With a lot of bands who do so much heavy work you get burned out.

'In hindsight it was the right time to finish because we left a great legacy behind us to come back.'

Group - Manchester - Media - City - Centre

The group certainly looked stronger than ever as they headed into the Manchester Media City centre.

Showing off her svelte frame, Claire donned a pair of figure-hugging capri pants that she teamed with a white T-shirt and rose gold jacket.

Locks - Attention - Cheekbones - Make-up - Palette

Her cropped golden locks aided in drawing attention to her defined cheekbones, whilst a neutral make-up palette highlighted her other flawless features.

Faye looked equally as chic on the outing, teaming a baby pink cold shoulder blouse with cream culottes.

Height - Frame - Pair - Toe - Boots

Adding some extra height to her frame, she donned a pair of peep toe heeled boots, and layered up with a patterned shawl.

Lisa flaunted her fabulous figure in a white shirt dress with a skinny belt that cinched in at her slender waist and grazed her tanned and toned thighs.

Group - Ensembles - Shock - Outfits - Pop

The group looked sensational in their ensembles, as they expressed their shock at the outfits donned by pop stars of today.

As BBC Breakfast host Sally Nugent remarked their old pop stars were 'racy', H retorted: 'compared to acts these days we keep our clothes on!'

Lee added: 'We bring a lot of fun back and that’s what the fans say is missing...
