Kristin Owens and Brian Powers, of Indianapolis, had planned their perfect fairytale wedding to take place next month.

But last week, her mother Cheryl received a devastating diagnosis which would change all their lives. On January 3, she was diagnosed with terminal stage 4 kidney cancer, and given just a few weeks left to live.
So that same day, Kristin made a decision. She was getting married that same day, in Indiana University Health West Hospital, at her mother's bedside.

Cheryl didn't want her daughter to give up on having the big wedding she had dreamed of, but Kristen just wanted to make sure her mom was there on her special day.
'My mom's my best friend,' Kristin, 33, told Naples News. 'She's prayed for me to get married.'

'Every time she went to her oncologist she would say something about the wedding,' she told the DailyMail.com.
'She kept telling him she needed to be better by February 4th. She honestly believed she was going to get better. But I do believe that the wedding is the reason she fought so hard at the end.'

Kristin and Brian only began dating in August. But when they found out Cheryl - who had always dreamed of watching her little girl get married - had cancer in October, they decided to set a date.
But with news that Cheryl had just weeks left to live, Kristin called her fiance, a guidance counselor, to ask how he'd feel about cancelling their big wedding, and getting married within a few hours. He happily agreed.
