President-elect Donald Trump's choice to lead the Department of Transportation, Elaine Chao, says she's "open to all ideas," regarding privatization of air traffic control.
"I am cognizant of those who are in favor of it. I am cognizant of those who have safety concerns," Chao said at the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee hearing on her nomination, according to the Washington Examiner.

The idea of privatizing air traffic control has stirred controversy in the aviation industry.
The committee's leading Democrat, Florida Sen. Bill Nelson, asked Chao if she could explain the incoming administration's views on the issue.
Chao replied: "I'd like to be confirmed first."
During the hearing, Chao emphasized the need for help such as public-private partnerships to fund infrastructure.
