Caroll Spinney, the man known for voicing Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch on “Sesame Street,” died Sunday at his Connecticut home.
Spinney was 85 years old at the time of his death, according to a report published Sunday by Page Six.

Spinney suffered from dystonia, a disorder that causes muscles to contract involuntarily, the Sesame Workshop announced after Spinney’s death.
“Caroll was an artistic genius whose kind and loving view of the world helped shape and define ‘Sesame Street’ from its earliest days in 1969 through five decades,” the statement said.
