Secret deodorant trolls Buccaneers fans with ad pitching Carli Lloyd for Tampa Bay's kicking job

Secret deodorant is trolling Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans with an advertisement suggesting US women's soccer star Carli Lloyd replace placekicker Matt Gay after he missed a potential game-winning 34-yard field goal in Sunday's loss to the New York Giants.

The ad appeared online and in the Tampa Bay Times, showing Lloyd kicking a field goal during Philadelphia Eagles training camp last month. In fact, video of Lloyd kicking that 55-yard field goal went viral, after which reports emerged that a few NFL teams were interested in signing her.

'Hey Bucs fans, do you sweat 34-yarders?' the Secret ad reads. 'Carli Lloyd doesn't. Secret believes strength is more than overcoming what makes us sweat. It's continuing to pursue progress and equality in all industries & sectors. Women may not play professional football (yet), but isn't it time for a level playing field wherever she wants to play?'

The 37-year-old two-time World Cup champion wasn't shy about re-posting the ad on several social media platforms.

A rookie fifth-round pick, Gay also missed an extra point in the first quarter of Monday's 32-31 loss to New York, and he previously missed a 42-yard field goal against the Carolina Panthers in Week 2.

Gay is actually the team's 11th kicker since 2009, but coach Bruce Arians insists he's not looking for a 12th.

'You paid your money, [so say] whatever you want to say,' Arians said Monday about fans being amid criticism of Gay. 'He isn't going anywhere.'

As Lloyd's longtime coach James Galanis told ESPN, Lloyd received offers from two NFL teams last month, but he said she's unlikely to pursue a placekicking career until she's had a full off-season train for the job.
