The Tennessee Titans' heated matchup with the Indianapolis took a literal turn for the worse before the game even started Sunday afternoon when a pyrotechnics machine fell over and lit the field on fire.
The special effects snafu took place 10 minutes before the competing teams ran onto the field at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.

The flame-throwing apparatus was one of two set up on either side of the Titans' field entrance corridor.
The devices are designed to shoot fire vertically into the air right as the home team sprints out of its locker room.

But when one of the devices somehow fell on its side, it shot flames onto the field's natural grass surface, igniting a massive blaze and causing smoke to billow into nearby fans' stadium seats.
