Baboon forces diners at a Cape Town vineyard to flee their seats before scoffing their food

A meal at a South African vineyard in Cape Town was interrupted by a rather unusual guest.

An alpha male Chacma baboon forced diners, who were tucking into a hearty lunch, to flee their seats.

The baboon seems quite at home as he greedily grabs at the spaghetti bolognese on offer, glancing at other diners.

Onlookers seem unfazed by the strange sight, grinning to one another as the boisterous primate shovels the pasta into his mouth.

The pasta loving primate was totally chilled taking 15 minutes to finish off the two dishes with staff at the Groot Constantia vineyard unsure how to deal with their furry guest.

When the baboon was nearly full he hopped up onto the table and finished off the garlic bread then wandered off into the vines and back to the nearby mountains.

Eye witness Tanya May, 50, said: 'The incredible thing is the baboon looked like he was perfectly at home sitting at the dinner table and showed no signs of any nervousness.'
