A brave man has been filmed rescuing a dog before it was swept away in a fast-flowing stream as Tropical Storm Fernand slammed Mexico's Gulf Coast.

A bystander recorded the moment the man climbed down the side of a wall to save the pooch in Santa Catarina, Monterrey, on Wednesday.

A short while later, the dog is spotted next to the man, who appeared to have secured it to a rope.
