Spider suddenly appears on TV screen during live BBC interview on slavery

A spider had an unexpected starring role on BBC News this afternoon - when it appeared on television screens during an interview about slavery.

The creepy-crawly climbed onto a camera lens as Glasgow City Councillor Graham Campbell was being interviewed about the recent University of Glasgow decision to pay reparations for the slave trade.

Bemused viewers took to social media in the moments after the strange appearance to ask if anyone else had seen similar - with one labelling it a 'weird experience'.

Writing on Twitter, Greg Allman said: 'There's currently a spider on the lens of a bbc news camera. That was a weird experience.'
