Fugitives on BBC 1 tracks down criminal couple

Police have revealed the moment they knew a suicide note left next to the body of a Welsh woman was fake, when they noticed the date had been written in the American format.

Nadine Aburas, 28, a student from Cardiff, was found dead on December 30th 2014, murdered by her American long distance boyfriend Sammy Almahri.

Welsh - Part - Time - Waitress - Sammy

The Welsh part time waitress had met Sammy, who was posing as a millionaire property tycoon, on a dating app, and he began sending her gifts and money, even coming over to meet her family in Wales.

However when she went to visit him in July 2014, she found he was a taxi driver with a violent streak, and when she returned home - covered in bruises - she tried to end the relationship, and reported him for sexual assault.

Sammy - Brothers - Pictures - Movements - Spyware

Sammy began to threaten her, claiming he would send her brothers naked pictures of her, and managed to watch her movements through spyware he had installed in a phone he gifted her with.

Speaking on BBC1's Fugitives which aired tonight, detective Gareth Morgan said: 'He kept track of her every move and every message she sent, and was able to control her from across the ocean'.

Christmas - Sammy - London - Nadine - Pictures

At Christmas Sammy flew to London and managed to persuade Nadine to bring him back to her flat, reportedly claiming that he would return the pictures of her.

However when her brothers found out that he was at her flat, there was a fight and he was escorted back to the train station and told to fly home to New York.

But instead of catching a train to Heathrow airport, he went and bought himself a drink, and booked himself into a local hotel where he downed shots.
