Body believed to be missing two-year-old Oregon boy found in Montana after parents murder-suicide

Authorities reported finding a body that could be missing child Aiden Salcido in a rural area of Kalispell, Montana, near to where his parents were spotted days earlier.

Positive identification is yet to be officially made and an autopsy has been scheduled, Medford police confirmed.

'Witnesses - Tips - Story - Break - News

'Witnesses called in tips after seeing the story break on the news and were instrumental in helping to locate a remote camp believed to have been occupied by Janiak and Salcido,' a police statement on Facebook revealed on Sunday afternoon.

'The cause and manner of death will not be disclosed until an autopsy can be conducted next week in Montana,' the statement added.

Details - Location - Federal - Bureau - Investigations

No further details on the exact location were revealed, other than the Federal Bureau of Investigations believing they were located in the Rocky Mountain region.

The boy's parents Daniel Salcido and Hannah Janiak were found by police after a car pursuit - they had fled felony burglary warrants for their arrest.

Officers - Janiak - Gunshot - Wound - Head

Officers found Janiak dead with a gunshot wound to her head, and Salcido dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the FBI said in a news release.

Their child was not in the 1996 GMC Jimmy with Oregon license plates, the FBI said.

Couple - Town - Oregon - Prison - Sentence

The couple had apparently skipped town in Oregon to avoid a pending prison sentence.

The Jackson County, Oregon, Sheriff's Office investigated the couple for a burglary in 2018, the FBI said.

Charges - Janiak - Sentence - Jackson - County

Both were convicted of the charges, and Janiak was to begin serving her sentence at the Jackson County Jail on June 11, the FBI said. She did not show up for her sentencing.

Felony warrants were subsequently issued for the couple's arrest.
