A 38-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the grisly killing of a prominent Russian LGBT activist who was stabbed in the face and back eight times.
Yelena Grigorieva, 41, was found slumped in the bushes near her St Petersburg home on Saturday after being targeted by an anti-gay website which urged its users to 'hunt down homosexuals'.

But detectives have said her death was not being treated as a hate crime and believe the campaigner was knifed by somebody she knew following a drunken domestic argument.
The Investigative Committee said: 'The murder was committed on domestic grounds during a conflict that arose between two people who had known each other previously.'

Grigorieva also had marks on her neck suggestive of strangling.
The detained man, who has not been named, was born in Soviet Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia in 1981.
