Apple's next device could come with new taptic engine, lightning port, and triple camera array

But, it will also boast a new 'taptic engine' and a triple rear camera array, according to sources who say they have seen the device.

As reported by 9to5Mac, recent accounts contradict rumors that the phone, set to be release this fall, would do away with its somewhat controversial lighting port for a USB-C port.

Rumors circulated after Apple changed the port on its iPad Pro last year.

Though the lighting port is reportedly staying in the iPhone 11, sources tell 9to5Mac that a new taptic engine which is code named 'leap haptics' will see a 3D touch feature phased out.

It's unclear exactly what the taptic engine will bring to the table feature-wise, but 9to5Mac reports that it will likely enrich the phone's haptic features -- the subtle vibrations that enable pressure-based touch commands.

Perhaps the biggest changes in the next generation of iPhone according to 9to5Mac will be in the device's camera hardware and software.
