The Daily Caller is reporting that the “second wave” of gun control measures in New Zealand is unfolding, clamping down even more on gun ownership in the island nation, with tighter gun licensing regulations and the establishment of a national firearms registry.
There is no Second Amendment-type provision in the New Zealand constitution, and Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern was quoted suggesting her citizens do not necessarily have a need to be armed.

This comes a little more than one week after the country staged its first gun “buyback” program, which reportedly got good reviews from gun prohibition groups in the U.S.
NPR reported that Shannon Watts with Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action said New Zealand’s quick actions “stand in stark contrast to the U.S.” Likewise, Andrew Patrick with the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence is an example of “action and accountability in response to a horrific mass shooting that is unfortunately missing in the United States of America.”
