(CNSNews.com) – When it comes to the Constitution and illegal immigration, Sen. Angus King (I-Me.) said President Donald Trump, like President Barack Obama, is moving “to enforce” immigration law. He stressed, however, that law enforcement can use discretion in cases of deportation.
At the U.S. Capitol on Thursday, CNSNews.com asked Sen. King, “Article 2, Section 3 of the Constitution says the president ‘shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed.’ Does the president have a constitutional duty to enforce the immigration laws? If yes, should the president deport immigrants who are in the United States illegally?”
Sen - King - Prosecutor - People - Enforcement
Sen. King said, “Well the prosecutor of any -- the people that are charged with the enforcement of any law, there is always prosecutorial discretion in terms of how they proceed.”
