An elusive alligator nicknamed 'Chance the Snapper' that has been living in a Chicago park lagoon has finally been captured after an expert was brought in from Florida.
The four-foot-long alligator was caught humanely in Humboldt Park early on Tuesday and is in good health, a Chicago police spokesman said.

Chance the Snapper was first spotted last week in the lagoon but investigators haven't yet been able to determine why the reptile was on the loose in Chicago.
Alligator expert Frank Robb, of St Augustine, Florida, was brought in on Sunday to help capture him.

He assessed the park and lagoon before recommending that sections of the park be closed off on Monday to reduce the noise and kerfuffle that could keep the alligator in hiding.
Police said they would release additional details about the alligator and its capture later Tuesday at a press conference.
