Louisiana authorities have detained two men who they say shot and killed a Mississippi school district's 'teacher of the year' on Sunday.
Frederick McCray Jr.'s body was found hidden under a pile of wood next to an abandoned dogfood plant near Bayou Levee Road and Huntington Stadium Fishmerman Drive in Ferriday.

He is said to have died from a single gunshot wound, Concordia Parish Chief Deputy David Hedrick explained to the Natchez Democrat.
Investigators believe that McCray gave two suspects - 48-year-old Jimmy O'Neal Lewis and Cedric Tennessee - a ride near the area before they fatally shot him.

Lewis was arrested in Ferriday on Monday morning and charged with first-degree murder.

His accomplice was arrested in New Orleans and charged with first-degree murder. He had tried to flee the area where the killing occurred, police stated.
Authorities said that the investigation is ongoing and it is unknown whether the victim knew his killers.
