Odds are, if Amazon released a five-part docuseries about the rise of rapper Meek Mill, most people probably wouldn’t be itching to see it. Sure, he’s a talented artist and “rock docs” are always fascinating, but in the new series “Free Meek,” the focus isn’t so much on Meek Mill but instead the circumstances that found the rapper behind bars for a crime that he may not have committed.

As seen in the new trailer, “Free Meek” tells the story of the rapper, who was arrested in 2017 for a probation violation, while at the height of his music career. The docuseries goes back to the cause of his probation and unravels a story that shows the injustice that follows Black folks in underserved communities all across the country.
