The effects of social media have just begun to be studied, but it's pretty common knowledge that if you spend too much time online, the negative effects can easily outweigh the positive ones.
In fact, a report from the Office for National Statistics found that children who spend more than just three hours a day on social media are twice as likely to suffer mental health issues.

And 22-year-old Camila Cabello understands these negative effects well. She recently opened up about her relationship with the online world, telling the Hollywood Reporter that she has 'phases' where she needs to take long breaks from social media.
The Havana hitmaker explained that while she will have periods of being active on social media, there are moments she needs to focus on herself.

'I go through phases in my life - there are times where I feel like protecting myself and focusing on myself and being present in whatever is happening around me is more important,' Cabello told the entertainment news site.
The Cuban-American singer revealed she decided to take a step back while working on her latest album - the follow-up to last year's self titled debut - because her music is 'most important.'
