Huge inferno engulfs top floors of skyscraper in Warsaw as authorities place city centre on lockdown

A huge fire has engulfed the top of a new skyscraper in Warsaw sending the city into lockdown.

The inferno broke out at 11pm local time and the city centre of Poland's capital has been placed under lockdown to protect people from being hit by debris.

The unfinished skyscraper is 426 feet tall, with reports of flaming wreckage falling from the 25th floor.

According to Polish officials the top four storeys of the building are on fire and sixty firemen have been drafted in to help control the blaze.
