Is the FBI Still Investigating Trump? McCabe Says We'll Have to 'Wait and See'

(CNSNews.com) - Former Deputy/Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe -- the man who opened the counter-intelligence investigation into President Donald Trump -- said the Mueller report did not resolve "all of the questions and issues surrounding that investigation."

McCabe told MSNBC's Rachel Maddow Thursday night that Mueller's focus was "fairly narrow," involving coordination between the Trump campaign and the Russian government.

Mueller did not examine whether President Trump is compromised by a foreign power, and McCabe indicated the FBI may still be looking into that.

"We'll have to wait and see what actions, what investigative actions, the FBI takes -- if, in fact, any of the actions are ever shared with the public."

McCabe said Mueller was careful to stay within the "guide rails" the Justice Department gave him:

And I think that was an appropriate way to conduct the Special Counsel's business.

Suspicion - Curiosity - Concern - Counter-intelligence - Investigators

That does not completely eliminate every possible suspicion, every curiosity, every concern that counter-intelligence investigators would have about a high-level government executive, someone -- not even the president of the United States, but anybody with access to the sort of material that the president has access to -- who also has a history of interactions and dealings with Russians of questionable background, with individuals who have -- surrounds himself with people who have contacts to sanctioned entities or to...people with backgrounds in Russian intelligence.

Those are the exact sort of flags that you look for in a counter-intelligence investigation to determine is this person, the principal -- in this case, the president of the United States -- somebody who would be subject to influence from a foreign power, or is it someone who actually might even have some sort of relationship with a foreign power?
