My bill to close the double jeopardy loophole in NY just passed in the #NYSAssembly.— NY AG James (@NewYorkStateAG) May 21, 2019
Double jeopardy exists to prevent someone from being charged twice for the same crime, not to allow them to evade justice altogether.
The rule of law is a core pillar of our nation's democracy and my primary role is to uphold it and ensure that no one is above it.— NY AG James (@NewYorkStateAG) May 21, 2019
I applaud the @NYSA_Majority and @assemblymanjoe for their leadership and look forward to it being signed into law.
