And David Walliams went above and beyond on Saturday as he welcomed 'the king' Simon Cowell to the stage with a trumpet fanfare in the latest auditions episode.

The comedian, 47, dressed in a formal red and white uniform as he met Simon, fellow judges Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon, and hosts Ant and Dec at the bottom of a grand staircase.
David, who was accompanied by four musicians, declared 'All hail the king, Mr. Simon Cowell' as the group watched on from above.

The band then began to play a fanfare as a banner baring Simon's face fell from the comedian's trumpet.
David followed his fellow judge through the hallway, badly playing the instrument as the six Britain's Got Talent stars made their way to the stage.

At one point, Simon stopped to let the children's author walk ahead of him. He said: 'Just go down, go down. No you're annoying me now.'
But David stubbornly held back, stating: 'No, I've got to stay with my squadron'.

Simon eventually made his way to his seat, followed by his band of musical admirers.
Later on Saturday's show, the judge was moved to tears when a singer got down on one knee and popped the question to his girlfriend in the ITV show's first ever proposal.
