Manhattan manhole explosions leave multiple injured and 100 firefighters struggle to contain flames

Authorities say at least four people have been injured, including emergency responders – after a series of manhole explosions in New York Wednesday.

A school, hotel, and office building were all evacuated as the Fire Department New York, alongside ConEd, checked the scene after the 9.47am Midtown Manhattan incident.

Explosions - Basement - East - Street - Build-up

The explosions were said to have come from the basement of 6 East 32nd Street due to carbon monoxide build-up.

It was reportedly a meter room that exploded with firefighters just a few feet away.
