It had been quite a while since Game of Thrones fans last got a glimpse of Ghost before Sunday's episode, which finally brought Jon Snow's (Kit Harington) beloved direwolf back into view — even if it was something of a throwaway cameo for our four-legged friend.

Before that, Ghost had been MIA since Season 6, when he lay by Jon's bedside until his buddy's body could be revived by the Red Witch. Ghost was subsequently kept away from the field during the Battle of the ****. (After Jon got one good look at poor Shaggydog's severed head, who could blame him for keeping the pooch kenneled?) He also didn't make the long trip to Dragonstone, and he certainly didn't join the Wight Hunt north of the Wall. So, basically, Ghost has missed out on most of the action in Jon Snow's second life so far.

Looks - Guard - Jon - Samwell - Tarly

However, from the looks of how on guard he was while watching over Jon and Samwell Tarly (John Bradley) in Sunday's episode, Ghost is likely to be a part of the all-hands-on-deck situation that's underway in Winterfell now that the White Walkers have arrived. Why wouldn't he be? As we saw all the way back in Season 1 when he helped Jon take down the reanimated Othor, Ghost can be very, very useful in a tangle with the walking dead. That means we can (hopefully) stay tuned for more Ghost action ahead.

In the meantime, even as the show seems to be squeezing in as much closure as it can — we even got a status update on Ed Sheeran's character, for crying out loud — there are still quite a few people whose fates haven't been addressed just yet. Let's take a look at who else might (MIGHT) pop back up in Season 8.
