David Blaine might come off as creepy, but he certainly is one of the most impressive magicians today. His career took off in the 1990s with televised performances of freakish acts of endurance. He once stood on a 100-foot high pole in New York for a day and a half. Another time, in London, Blaine lived inside a transparent perspex box, like a fish tank, suspended by a crane, for 44 days, without food.
He has also spent 16 hours spinning in a gyroscope, 63 hours frozen in a block of ice, 60 hours dangling upside down, and an entire week—7 days and 7 nights— submerged in water, breathing through tubes in a giant fishbowl for all to see.

The first stunt Blaine televised, was in 1999, around Easter time in New York City. It was called Buried Alive. Blaine was sealed in a transparent coffin, and was buried six feet underground in gravel, with a 3-ton water tank over him so people could observe his presence there the whole time. He had an emergency buzzer to call for help.
