Darcey Bussell officially announced the news of her departure from Strictly on Twitter last week.

And, according to a report, professional ballet dancer Carlos Acosta is being eyed-up by BBC show bosses to sauté into her vacant seat on the judging panel.

The globally sought-after choreographer, 45, who has danced with Darcey before on numerous occasions, is said to be after an eye-watering fee of £400,000 to take on the TV gig.

According to The Sun, the internationally revered Cuban choreographer has already agreed to be Birmingham Royal Ballet's new artistic director from 2020.

And in order to have the ballet dancer on the Strictly panel, show bosses may have to fork out a rumoured £400,000 — which is around £150,000 more than the other judges get.

A Strictly insider told the publication: 'Carlos is a huge name in the dance world and has been on Strictly's radar for a long time.

UK-based ballet professional Carlos is married to former model Charlotte Holland, 37, with whom he shares three children, including two-year-old twin daughters.

After joining the Royal Ballet in 1998, the dancer starred in productions of Swan Lake and the Nutcracker, amongst others, before leaving in 2015.

In 2014, he was awarded a CBE for his services to ballet.
