West Midlands Police arrested a man today after launching an appeal to find a missing five-month-old baby boy from Sutton Coldfield, in Birmingham.

The baby has been found 'safe and well' and a 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of child abduction, West Midlands Police said.

Police - Baby - James - Dempsey - Child

Police said earlier that they believed the baby was with a James Dempsey, who is known to the child's mother.

He was thought to have been last spotted driving a Silver Vauxhall Astra on the A45 towards Coventry, just before 1am today.

Police urged those who are 'out and about this evening' to 'keep their eyes peeled' for Dempsey.

Reports on social media suggested that Dempsey is not the child's father.
