A Democratic strategist and Clinton ally apparently thinks it’s hilarious to mock someone who suffered from a very serious disease.
Adam Parkhomenko, who worked as a political advisor for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, took to Twitter on Wednesday to share a video clip of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell falling while walking up steps.
McConnell - Polio - Child - Legs
McConnell suffered from polio as a child, and his legs are still partially paralyzed because of it.
Parkhomenko mocked McConnell for falling and snidely encouraged his followers to share his clip so that it could reach one million views, with the obvious goal of trying to embarrass the GOP lawmaker.
Yesterday - Footage - Mitch - McConnell - America
“Yesterday I posted this new found footage of Mitch McConnell standing up for America. 368,000 views overnight. Mitch McConnell does not want you to let this video get up to 1,000,000 views,” Parkhomenko wrote.
In July 2018, McConnell spoke at the Center for Strategic and International Studies about his fight against polio and working towards ensuring Congress provides financial support to combat the disease.
McConnell - Diagnosis - Age - Years - Vaccine
“McConnell’s diagnosis at age 2 occurred more than 10 years before a vaccine was even available. His symptoms included paralysis in part of his left leg, and at that time, the best his family could hope for was treatment through rehabilitation. He made periodic visits to Warm Springs, Georgia, home to a polio rehabilitation institute known for also treating President Franklin D. Roosevelt,” Roll Call reported.
