Michael Bloomberg ISN'T hanging up his White House ambitions because he's not sure Biden will run

Michael Bloomberg may enter the 2020 race after all - especially if former Vice President Joe Biden doesn't run - despite announcing last month he would not be a contender, it was reported Tuesday.

The former mayor of New York City would reconsider his decision if a centrist lane - such as one Biden would occupy - opened up in the battle for the Democratic nomination, Axios reported.

Biden's presumed run played a big factor in Bloomberg's decision not to pursue the Democratic nomination.

'He's a data guy,' a source close to the former mayor told the news website. 'He couldn't get the math to work.'

Bloomberg announced on March 5 he wouldn't be running in 2020.

But his aides have said he is prepared to spend as much as $500 million – about 1 per cent of his estimated $50 billion fortune – to make sure Donald Trump is a one-term president.
