A 33-year-old Moroccan model who was a witness at Silvio Berlusconi's 'bunga bunga' trial did not die from radioactive poisoning, initial tests revealed.

Iman Fadil died on March 1 in a Milan hospital after reporting stomach pains and claiming she had been poisoned.

Last week it was reported that Fadil had high levels of a toxic heavy metal in her system but it has been claimed this is unlikely following analysis of tissue samples.

Fadil was a key witness for the prosecution at Berlusconi's 2012 trial when it was alleged he had paid for sex with an underage woman. He was cleared in 2015.

After samples were taken from Fadil's kidneys and lungs specialists have said it is 'increasingly unlikely' her body was contaminated with any radioactive substance, the BBC reported.

The former model had been brought to the hospital on January 29 with unexplained stomach pains.

Berlusconi previously told the BBC: 'It's always a pity when a young person dies. I never met this person, never talked to her.'
