Trendy 'celery juice' diet endorsed by Kim Kardashian could be giving you WRINKLES

She jumped on the latest trend in a bid to save her skin from psoriasis.

But Kim Kardashian's celery juice diet may be doing more damage than good, according to a dermatologist.

Emma Wedgeworth, a member of the British Skin Foundation, has revealed the drink may lead to premature skin ageing and even cancer.

The vegetable can increase the skin's sensitivity to UVA rays in sunlight, she said, which play a major role in the formation of wrinkles.

The announcement will be bad news for Kardashian, 38, who started said she started drinking the juice in January along with the Global Celery Juice Movement.

After advice from the founder of the movement, Anthony William, she said she would be drinking celery juice to help the psoriasis on her face.

Mr William claims millions of people drink the juice for its 'healing properties', suggesting it gives relief from various illnesses, digestive issues, skin conditions and migraines.

But Dr Wedgeworth said: 'I certainly wouldn't advise using celery juice as a way of treating psoriasis.

'Celery - Psoralens - Skin - Sensitivity - UVA

'Celery is known to contain psoralens which can increase your skin's sensitivity to UVA sunlight.

'UVA sunlight reduces the inflammation of psoriasis – so if you drink a lot of celery juice and sit in the sun, there may be a reaction in the skin.'

She said eating a healthy diet and losing weight is known to improve psoriasis symptoms and including celery juice as part of a weight-loss diet could be leading people to think it helps the skin by itself.
