Elton John biopic Rocketman is previewed at the historic LA club where singer made his US debut

A legendary music venue in Los Angeles became the stage for a sneak peek of the upcoming Elton John biopic on Monday night.

The viewing party, hosted by Paramount Pictures and held at Troubadour in West Hollywood, saw some of the stars of the movie gather to watch 20 minutes of the musical Rocketman.

Troubadour - Club - Elton - US - Debut

The Troubadour club is historically significant as it is where Elton made his US debut almost 50 years in a performance that shot him to stardom.

'His entire life changed when he broke America,' Elton's husband David Furnish, a produce on the movie, said on stage.

Variety - Footage - Monday - Bits - John

According to Variety the footage previewed on Monday consisted of bits from John's childhood and his rise to international fame as well as his struggle with drug, sex and shopping addictions.

Taron Egerton, who plays Elton in the biopic, presented the clip on stage.

Co-stars - Bryce - Dallas - Howard - Elton

His co-stars Bryce Dallas Howard, who plays Elton's mother Sheila Eileen and Jamie Bell, who plays Elton's longtime writing partner Bernie Taupin, were by his side.
