Praying for Muslims at Mass

Father Stephanos Pedrano, O.S.B., posted the following on Facebook. I repost it with his kind permission. This day, in particular we ask God to “give kind admittance to your kingdom…to all who were pleasing to you…those of every race and tongue who have died in your friendship.” Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. Show them mercy, grant them peace, and give consolation to all who grieve.

The prayers at Mass intercede not only for the baptized who have died, but also for the dead who were never baptized, including Muslims.

Presence - Eucharistic - Body - Blood - Christ

In the presence of the Eucharistic Body and Blood of Christ at Mass, the Eucharistic Prayer (EP) intercedes for baptized Christians who have died (calling them “brothers and sisters”) and also for those dead who were not baptized. The bold words below refer to those who are not baptized.
